I would work from 11pm to 7am. I made sure the house remained clean and sanitized. Three men lived at this house who all had different disabilities. I was there in case they needed assistance with any task, like making food or taking a shower. I was not allowed to sleep on this job. I made sure I was awake from 11pm to 7am no matter what. I really enjoyed – more... this job because I had things in common with each guy that lived there and I became friends with them. The hardest part would either be trying to get some of the guys to take their medication when they didn't want to. The most enjoyable part was being able to make food after I cleaned everything. – less

Taking care of the disabled people are a fun and exciting thing to do. Being able to help take care of them and allow them to feel like everyone else is an honor. They love being able to have fun. The workers and managers are fun to be around. There really is no hard part of this job. Everything about the job is fun.

After working there for more than 4 years, I have learned a lot about the company and the ways we conduct business. I enjoy the relationships I have developed with the management and co-workers including our clients who were disabled and witnessed how they grow into a better person. My job gave me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills by placing – more... me in charge in most aspects of the Accounting department and supervising co-workers whom we trained to do the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. My hours got cut due to over staffed houses. The managers were not the best. Co-workers were very cool to work with.

i took care of guests,i learned many things,like organize an event, take care of VIP while ceremony.

A typical day at work would be in the relaxation room with clients after a long day out in the community with clients (snoozlen).
What I learned was that when clients come in from a long ride on the handi-bus, they enjoy their relaxation before their work day begins.
Management always wiling to sit down and listen, always made sure the staff had all – more... requirements to ensure success in their job. Co-workers were knowledgeable and and caring. Eachday was different working in the homes you never knew what the day was going to bring, management was ok they interacted with workers, co-workers varied depending on assigned house, the hardest part of the job was controlling individuals as they had behaviors causing housemates to go off, and the enjoyable part was helping my individuals with life – more... lessons. – less

Chrysalis is a good place to work for those wanting to make a direct impact on the lives of individuals for whom the program supports. Financial compensation is typically not very good in this type of direct support profession, but the perks at Chrysalis are worth a smaller paycheck. It is easy to become emotionally invested in the lives of supported – more... individuals. The work is often emotionally draining and physically taxing, depending on the amount of direct care individuals require, however. Working in an industry that supports those with mental and physical disabilities, is very eye-opening. I recommend this profession short-term to those with an open mind, open heart and lots of patience. – less

Chrysalis is a great place to work. Incredible people and great management.

I was responsible for assisting 12-16 individuals become more independent in daily life skills. It is an honor to work for this company and with these individuals. A main focus was integrating individuals with the community and working on social skills. It was great to see the positive interactions and patience the community offered.

A typical day at work would begin at 2 p.m. I would clock-in and greet eveyone with a pleasant attitude. I would report to supervisor to receive the task to be completed for the day and listen to a brief overview of each client. Management was very optimistic. My co-workers and I worked well in a team evironment and individually. The hardest part of – more... the job was creating new approaches to meet the overall outcome of that client's need at the time. I was fortunate to have a fantastic supervisor. They were just as willing to learn from me as to support with constructive feedback. working in the home of multiple clients with varying needs was challenging, but extraordinarily rewarding.

On this job i dealt with two paitents and i loved it, the job was always upbeat and cozy.
