Pros: short hours
Cons: late hours
It is a very good job with a great salary. Great management and people to work around and great benefits also. The only thing is that the shifts are evenings therefore I finish late so am interested in day time hours.

Great working environment
Personal Banker (Current Employee), Sunderland – May 22, 2013
Pros: good career development opportunities
Cons: location
Barclays is a great place to work with a really strong working environment. In the role we pull together as a team to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied.
A typical day at work sees me responding to customer queries and looking to service their accounts whilst looking for any potential solutions that could be offered, in order to make – more... their lives any easier.
The team I work in is great as we all try to contribute in order to reach targets, the managers are always supportive and on a monthly basis will take the time in a one-to-one in order to assess performance and look to help members of the team with their development in the job role.
The hardest part of my job is the fact that I've had to relocate to Sunderland in order to take the job. I've been their 8 months now, the job itself is fine, however im determined to find work closer to home in Workington. – less

Barclays
customer service advisor (Current Employee), darlington – May 15, 2013
Pros: long lunch, some lovely colleagues
Cons: long days, little recognition and appreciation, no career progression
a typical day at work would start between 8am to 8.30am, wed get set up and have a morning meeting every morning until 8.55 when the doors opened. You were given a lunch hour which would be taken when you were covered by another member of staff from 11am until 3pm. Business would close at 5pm, but depending on the day and business needs and what needed – more... to be done or if there were meetings, you could leave work at 5.30pm up until 7.30pm.

The most enjoyable part of the job were some of the colleagues and charity days we took part in.

The hardest part of the job, is definitely the work life balance, its definitely more work.

Managers would rarely stay if there was a problem. – less

Customer Centric place of work
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee), Maidenhead – April 4, 2013
Pros: loans and overdrafts, preferential rates on currency exchange!
Cons: long hours
Everyday at Barclays is a busy day and can involve a mixture of projects which I involved myself in. Management is a great gift at Barclays, they will always make sure to give their employees the time and support they need, whether it is a new colleague or someone who is trying to develop and progress their position within the business.
Whilst at Barclays – more... I have brushed up greatly on my time management skills. I have learnt how to cope in a deadline generated environment. Team work is something you needto be able to be part of to work in a place like Barclays. You need to be able to effectively handle complaints and diffuse heated situations for the benefit of the company and the customer. Confdentiality plays a huge part in this type of work.
I have gained many transferrable skills which I am sure will come to my aid as I search for my new job. – less

Excellent collegiate environment
Finance Business Partner & various prior roles (Former Employee), London – March 26, 2013
Pros: good working environment
Collegiate atmosphere, where you're expected to work hard, but have fun while doing so.

in my role there was always the possibility of queries out of left field, as well as the more routine budgeting, forecasting, and month end reporting.

Great Customer Values
Area Performance Manager (Former Employee), Cheshire – March 4, 2013
Pros: flexibility to work from home
Cons: long hours and too many conference calls
There are lots of managment tiers in Barclays, which allows staff to progress in their career. The training you receive in Barclays is priceless and stands out above the rest. However, the management do expect a lot from the staff and this means work life balance can become distorted towards the "work" part.
