Welcoming and great value for their colleagues
Stock Replenisher/ Sales Assistant (Current Employee), Newton Abbot, ENG – June 16, 2013
Pros: benefits, bonuses and celebration lunch (free)
Cons: physically tiring
A days work can range in dificulty depending on the day. During a weekend you can be expected to work very fast and multi-task various jobs but all within reason. I have learned most of my customer service skills here, daily sales figures and losses. Management take care of each colleague individually and I have always been treated with respect. They – more... have changed my contract readily when I have needed it (part-time at school, seasonal at university and full- time now). My co-workers have become my close friends and others that I dont know so well on other departments are generally always friendly. The hardest part of the job is maintaining the stock levels on busy days. The most enjoyable is working as part of the grocery team where we work hard together and have fun. – less

Staff need more support
Checkout Operator (Current Employee), Ystalyfera – June 11, 2013
Pros: friendly staff
Cons: no support
I was told during the induction that there are four colleague pledges, two of them being opportunity and fairness. Although, now working at ASDA only a very select few have actually had the chance to progress. Not everyone was offered the chance to put their names forward as colleague representatives. The work is easy enough, but is extremely repetitive. – more... Sometimes it seems that the staff are more professional than the managers. Everybody is very friendly, but there is no support from our supervisors. We were told that if we refused sale of an age restricted item to someone who cannot provide valid ID the managers would back us up 100%. But, when we say no they say yes. There is no support. – less

Pros: staff discount card

Enjoyed working there, until I fell pregnant with our first child. Have had 3 more since. I was made redundant during my first pregnancy due to the store being rebuilt. I have remained a house wife ever since.

Good grafting job
Warehouse and Operative Replenisher (Former Employee), Hamilton, SCT – June 7, 2013
Pros: kept me fit through lifting stuff
Cons: working hours
I was a niteshift worker so finished early in the morning.

I worked on the shop floor aswel as in the warehouse.

I personally dont like niteshift, it keeps u from socialising with ur friends outside of work, hobbies etc

The hardest part of the job was the hours, thats it.

I learned how to multi task & also how to work better as a team with others

Good Workplace
Petrol Assistant (Current Employee), Leeds Bridge – June 6, 2013
a typical day of work is: serve customers and replenish stock
management are very helpful and friendly, my co-workers are very warm and friendly, make me feel welcome
the hardest part of the job is replenishing stock as I have a bad back, and also ID'ing customers for items with age restrictions
the most enjoyable part of the job is the customers, when – more... I've helped them find what they like or help them with packing, they thank me for the help – less

Bakery assistant/checkout assistant (Former Employee), Radcliffe, ENG – June 5, 2013
Pros: free meals, flexible hours and staff discounts
I really enjoyed the bakery department because it allowed me to work with my hands which I am really good at. It was very fulfilling to see the immediate results of your work. I learned how to make various cream cakes and improved my customer service skills. The management was great, the meals were free and the other staff were extremely friendly. It – more... was a great atmosphere to work in. – less

Family orientated
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee), Grimsby, ENG – June 5, 2013
This company was by far the best company I have worked for and would encourage anyone who has children and are looking to return to to world of work to apply for a job as they are very flexible when it comes to your needs. A typical day at work would include turning up to do your shift, maybe with enough time to sit with your colleagues and have a chat – more... over a coffee, head down to your department a few minutes before your shift starts and liaise with your colleagues on the shop floor to see what work needs doing. I found that the most enjoyable part of the job was working with the customers and also the close relationship between the management and the colleagues on the shop floor, the store manager runs an open door policy. However, the customers can also be one of the hardest parts of the job as every person is different and you do not know how people are going to react in certain situations. – less

Productive and Fun workplace
Sales Assistant (Part-time) (Former Employee), London, ENG – June 5, 2013
Pros: free lunches
Cons: long hours
A typical day at work when i was moving from working in departments to department from stacking shelves to hanging up clothes helping customers around the store and going back and forth. I learned that it is good to be patient sometimes because you never know what might happen. The management was really great they made sure everyone was in the position – more... they normally work at. My co-workers are very friendly and nice, we'd have a chat and sit to eat together at lunch timer. e even at times head home together when work is over. My hardest part of the job was having a lot of products to be put out on the shelf but i managed to complete it. The most enjoyable part of the job has to be working at the till. Its more fun than having to stack shelves but I'm glad i experienced both. – less

Working experience
City facilities management (Current Employee), Edmonton London – June 2, 2013
Pros: flexible shifts
Working 2 years in ASDA I learned how to attend to customers and being part of a big team, I had to deal with different personalities and cope with different people so I'm a great team worker. The most enjoyable part of the job is the nice enviroment there is among my colleaugues and up to know I didn't face any hard situation that I couldn't deal with.

Great working inveroment
Wearhouse (Former Employee), Kirkcaldy, SCT – June 1, 2013
Pros: free lunchies
With my experience at Asda the most enjoyable part of the job was meating knew people and being to help customers within the store. My co workers helped and showed me what to do threw out my experience and they where great to work with. The management at Asda was really good at showing me a week of what the work life has to show you, a typical day at – more... work would involve checking stock, ordering stock, working with security, working in the freezers and helping customers.

In this week of work experience i learned skills that will help me in the working life such as reaching your company goals in the time they give you, how to work with customers and to give them the informaiton they need ect. – less
