Unique and Inspirational Surroundings
Commis Chef (Former Employee), Stratford – May 16, 2013
Pros: free lunches, discounted travel costs, generous pay
Cons: inflexible and long hours, intimidating surroundings, long commute
A typical day under the management of Aramark involved travelling to London (Stratford) and back on a full-time basis, and accessing the Athlete's Olympic village to serve/prepare food for the world athletes of the 2012 Olympics. During the experience, I learned how to work coherently with a large team, how to address and serve famous and very important – more... individuals, and how to manage my time whilst enrolled as a full-time commis chef/server. My co-workers were friendly and willing to operate in a large team effectively, however higher members of staff were often inhospitable and patronising. The hardest part of the job was the 12 hour shifts on top of the 3 hour daily commute on a Monday-Friday schedule, however meeting the athlete's of the London 2012 Olympics and forming a personal relationship with a number of them (as well as being instrumental in their experience within the village) was inspirational and unforgettable - as a whole, I wouldn't change my experience at all. – less

An experiencing work place
Mess Accountant (Former Employee), Bordon, Hampshire – March 19, 2013
Pros: good insite into military environment
Cons: having to leave
On a general day to day basis. I would deal with Soldiers 1arranging temporary accommodation for those who were on courses. I would also receive monies from Soldiers paying their monthly Mess Bills, make payments on invoices, input and balance the accounts on the Aramark Datebase and general administration and secretarial duties..

When I took on this – more... position the Accounts Department was in a state of disarray which I in time I rectified. Because this establishment was a training facility I would received soldiers on a regular basis and I found that there was no Information Pack for them, explaining how the Mess works, what they had to pay and other relevant help. I took it upon myself to create this and found that this eased my work load as most questions answered for them.

The job itself was very rewarding, which I enjoyed but, unfortunately due to my husband be deployed overseas I have to give it up. – less

Contract catering within college, standard fayre, but tight budget, good selection of items and outlets with good service standards.
chef (Former Employee), New College Durham – February 20, 2013
Pros: good team
Cons: interference too many supervisors
Busy kitchen with time and staff constraints due to amount of products. small working areas and and lots of paperwork, but good team and work ethics. not a high skill kitchen, but you do need to be a good multi-tasker, and willing to jump in as required. last minute instructions can cause problems, but not that bad if you enjoy working in catering.

Pros: long hours, free meals
Cons: not long enough notice for rota
Had to give good customer service to the athelets and making sure everything was up to a suitable standard.
I learnt that working as part of a big team was a good way to get things done much more quicker and conviently.
The management in this job was amazing and evrything i was told was simple and straight forward.
I got on with all my co workers as – more... im a peoples person and find it easy to communicate and tell people the next line of work.
I didnt really find that the job was hard because it was all quite easy.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the fact i had made a good group of friends. – less

strict,boring and soul crushing
shift leader,chef (Former Employee), portsmouth – February 15, 2013
Pros: made some amazing friends
Cons: strickness, managment
this company is all about money there is very little consideation for the actul working members of staff who are treated very badly.the manager care for nothing apart from saving money and making there bonuses bigger, the way the managment work puts extra un-needed pressure on the chefs which with some creates a very hard and unpleassent working atmospire.

administrative assistant/finance analyst (Current Employee), sidcup – January 28, 2013
Pros: 50% off lunch for staff
Cons: non
Aramark is a good company to work for but no room for expansion, working at Queen ary's hospital with Aramark was ok until the A&E and maturnity wards were close down and subsiquently more departments are closing down, which means less work to be done and boring.

Not the greatest company to work for.
Retail Assistant / Supervisor (Former Employee), Bassingbourn Barracks – January 25, 2013
Pros: worked with some friendly people.
Cons: made to pay full price for everything. treated unfairly but other managers.
Working for Aramark wasnt the greatest. The way their do their wages is stupid. I had been with the company three years and although I got a pay rise, after 6 months of being there, there was no other pay rises. This was unfair because when I was made redundant I was on £5.93 per hour, yet people being recruited at 16 were on £6.08 per hour.
At this – more... time, I was also doing more office typed work and learning the management side of things. I was told that it would be likely I would receive a pay rise but as per usual never did. I wouldnt work for the company again.
One person I used to work with got away with anything, such as using her phone on the shop floor infront of customers (inc answering telephone), fratanising with recruits (inc sleeping with them) and stealing from the shop. Because her mum worked for the company occasionally and the management got on with her mum, this girl never got into trouble ever. Didnt enjoy working with her or the company after that. – less

Back Of House Worker (Former Employee), Portland – January 13, 2013
Pros: free lunch, fun atmosphere
Cons: early starts, uniform
I enjoyed my time working as part of the olympics as it was a once in a life time opportunity, a typical day at work would include jobs such as; working within a team of people cleaning and assisting kitchen staff. Working for Aramak enabled me to learn different skills such as; working within a team of new people, working to schedule, meeting deadlines, – more... working under pressure, and learning to work with shift patterns. The thing that i enjoyed most about working for Aramark was that i was able to meet a variety of new people, also it was a privilege to be part of a harding working, positive enviroment. – less
