good job- but run by muppets.!!
Home Carer (Former Employee), Keighley, West Yorkshire – March 14, 2013
Pros: meet nice people
Cons: make a mug of employee's
did all my MANDATORY training(no NVQ's!) upto starting was promised ability to complete NVQ's(empty Promises).
i started with 50hr weeks, paying in excess of £150p/w in fuel, the office didnt know what they were doing. E.G sending me to clients that had passed away several days earlier.

i was off work due to medical reasons, with the promise my job – more... was still here for me, 4 weeks later i received my p45, i claimed for unfair dismissal, but had to claim for my job back 1st, as you can guess i didn't want to work for these people anymore.

My advice, if you want to be a carer, go to a decent run company, with managers that know what they are doing.

Terrible company! – less

Pros: always busy, time went fast
Cons: office politics
Very busy from beginning to end. I have gained lots of experience with IT. Hardest part to deal with was the office politics. The most enjoyable part was achieving my goals.

Femanist Matriach run management system/untrustworthy staff.
carer (Former Employee), Llanishen / cardiff – January 26, 2013
Pros: like females as seen as doing 100% of the job???????
Cons: totally unfit for purpose as a care provider but backed by poor council policies.
I was dismissed without any verbal/written warnings due to differences regarding to DUTY OF CARE given to clients. The management took a proft over people approch to the care of vulnerable clients choosing to undermine their feelings and concerns.
As i took the clients DUTY OF CARE as a paramount concern in any care issue and reported all required changes – more... of client circumstanses to the management.I found the lack of cohearent communication and poor follow through proceedures displayed by the management as well as the lack of client confidentiality abhorant.Reporting these issues to head office,I was treated as an outsider within the branch and activly discriminated against.Along with the female bias operated within the organisation I found myself isolated and victimised by feminist egotistical bullies. As an equal opportunities employer they fail to comply with their status and should be closed down as unfit for purpose. – less

domestic carer (Current Employee), london – January 8, 2013
My typical day at work would be caring for the elderly that are vulnerable,I learn about caring for my clients,my management and co-workers are very supportive. The hardest part of my job is when my clients are unwell. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping my clients with the support they need to maintain their health.

HCA (Former Employee), Norwich – December 14, 2012
Worked for Allied for nearly 7 yrs before going into foster care.
As the foster company i work for is an agency,i am sometimes left with no placements for long periods of time.
Hence the reason i need a more secure position.
I love making a difference, and working with care sectors gives me great satisfaction.

HELPING ELDERLY AND DISABLED ADULTS WITH PERSONAL CARE, OUTINGS, AND DAILY LIVING.
MY DAILY AIM WHILE AT WORK IS TO ASSIST AND ENHANCE EACH INDIVIDUAL'S DAILY LIFE, WITH COMPASSION AND EMPATHY, ENSURING THEIR WELL-BEING AND SAFETY AT ALL TIMES, WHILST WORKING IN A CONFIDENTIAL PROFESSIONAL
MANNER. I WORK WELL ON MY OWN OR AS A TEAM. I FEEL A VALUED – more... ASSET TO MY CLIENT'S DAILY LIVES.
I HAVE HAD EXPERIANCE WITH CLIENTS WITH CATHETERS AND PEG/ TUBE FED AS WELL AS GIVING MEDICATION.
I REALLY ENJOY MY JOB AND FIND IT REWARDING. THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF MY JOB I FIND AT THE MOMENT IS THE AMOUNT OF DISTANCE I HAVE TO COVER WITH THE LITTLE TIME I AM GIVEN FOR TRAVELING TIME WHILST DOING HOME-CARE. – less

awful place to work
care worker (Former Employee), Cannock – October 2, 2012
Cons: long hours, mileage allowance too low, rubbish management, no travel time inbetween calls, no social life as phone constantly ringing
I worked at allied for around a year. Although i enjoyed working with the elderly i did not enjoy the way management treated me! Most days i worked 7am til 10.30pm which i asked to be reduced so many times! They moaned.because i was off with chicken pox! Rotas always messed up, no travelling time inbetween calls which meant i was constantly running – more... late. mileage allowance was rubbish meaning i spent lots of my wages on petrol. Manager was only in her twenties so in my opinion didnt have enough experience of the job. My phone was always ringing, even on my day off!! Awful place to work, highly dis-recommend it. Do not work there!!! – less

productive and fun workplace
Care Co - Ordinator (Former Employee), Luton – September 4, 2012
Pros: free coffee and tea
Cons: can be at times on the computer all day
First thing i did on a typical day would be to go onto the Bespoke system to review the on call notes documented from the previous evening from a team member who was on call and to cover any shifts that were outstanding or had been cancelled whether it would of been from a carer or client. To review emails from Local Council of any updates or changes – more... to a clients Care Package.I learned a lot by using this computer how much information is stored. I was not computer literate, but felt i needed to learn more. Management were helpful but felt when i needed support or was unsure i felt uncomfortable to ask .Unhelpful carers make the job hard because
without fhere help we put pressure on other carers to deliver care . The most enjoyable part of the job is when clients are happy with the service we provide especially when visiting fhem or just speaking to them on the phone , and also completing my tasks for the day. – less
