About the Database Administrator position:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator who will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and operating support of the entire portfolio of databases and providing support in the administration, backup, integrity, and security of our database environment. In addition, responsible for database tasks from software upgrades to troubleshooting and continually assessing, improving, and optimizing our current database environment.

What you'll do as a Database Administrator:

  • Install database software service packs and cumulative updates as necessary.
  • Perform database Ad-hoc backups and restores.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity issues.
  • Generate and distribute regular reports on database performance, usage, and capacity planning to inform decision-making.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain database backup and recovery plans to safeguard critical data against loss or corruption.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
  • Follow Change Management processes to implement database configuration changes.
  • Follow Problem Management processes to troubleshoot and resolve recurring issues.
  • Proactively monitor and respond to database Alerts.
  • On-call requirements to ensure 24 x 7 support of database operations.

What you'll need to be a successful Database Administrator:

  • 1-3 years of experience in database administration within an Oracle or MS SQL environment.
  • Understanding of database technologies like MS SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Experience with core operating systems including Windows and Linux.
  • Understanding of database backup and redundancy technologies.
  • Familiar with database security access control, encryption, and auditing.
  • Understanding of database, instance, and database server monitoring and alerting.
  • SQL scripting a plus, using Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL, T-SQL, and other shell tech technologies.
  • Cassandra experience and administration a plus.
  • Understanding of technology troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Ability to perform basic performance tuning and triage.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate within a global team environment.
  • Must be able to function within a fast-paced, constantly changing, and improving technology team and organization.
  • Willingness to participate within a department-level on-call 24/7 pager rotation.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Live in commutable distance to London

Compensation: £45,000- £60,000 depending on experience
